A memory card is a shaving of NAND with a small controller, boxed in plastic — no shock mounting, no redundancy, no spare anything. A microSD is monolithic — memory, controller and contacts sealed as one piece of silicon — so the route in runs through its test points: probe the memory, take a raw dump, then rebuild that dump into photographs and clips a computer can open. Everything hangs on whether the snap spared the internal tracks, and the free assessment settles that question before money gets discussed. An SD card data recovery service can't promise every break; it can promise you'll know your odds before spending a penny.

CFexpress Type B is the growth trade: wedding shooters working Yorkshire's venues and drone pilots on coastal jobs push those cards hard, and at cinema bit-rates the failures arrive without notice. A separate caution for dashcam cards — looping simply wears flash out, and that footage returns by carving whichever blocks held on. Counterfeits complete the regulars, corrupting at the moment writes wrap their real size.

Is the drive still inside a computer, laptop, MacBook, iMac, CCTV / DVR or server? Take the hard drive or SSD out first and post the bare drive on its own — removing drives from machines isn't a service we offer. Storage that's soldered to a motherboard (Apple Silicon Macs, certain slim laptops) is the one thing we can't work on: if it doesn't come out, it can't come in.
